Trim margins, but do not use cropping as redaction

Use this tool when a PDF has wide margins, scanner borders, or extra whitespace. The crop is applied as PDF crop boxes, so it changes the visible page area without rasterizing the document.

Cropping is a display and layout change, not secure redaction. Text, images, or other page content outside the visible crop can remain in the PDF and may be recoverable in another viewer or editor. Do not use this tool to hide personal data, passwords, financial details, or other sensitive content.

Worked margin-trimming example

Upload a scanned packet, start with 4% on the top and bottom and 6% on the left and right, then export the new PDF. Open the download and inspect the first, middle, and last pages at minimum.

The same percentages apply to every page. Check page numbers, headers, footnotes, signatures, and pages with different sizes or orientations. If content is clipped, reduce the relevant margin and export again.

FAQ

Does this crop every page?

Yes. This first version applies the same crop margins to every page in the PDF.

Does cropping delete hidden content permanently?

No. The tool changes PDF crop boxes in a new copy. Underlying page content can remain and may be visible or recoverable in another PDF viewer or editor. Cropping is not secure redaction.

Are PDFs uploaded?

No. The PDF is read, cropped, and exported locally in your browser.

Can I use different crop margins on different pages?

Not in this version. The same four percentage margins apply to every page. For different page groups, split the PDF, crop each group separately, inspect the outputs, and merge them again.

Can I preview each cropped page?

Not in this V1. Use small margins first and inspect the downloaded PDF before sharing it.

Will password-protected or damaged PDFs work?

Not always. A PDF that the browser library cannot read will be rejected. Unlock an authorized copy with an appropriate PDF application or repair the file before trying again.
