Add a text watermark such as Draft, Confidential, or Sample to a new PDF copy.

When to add a watermark

Use a text watermark for drafts, samples, review copies, confidential documents, or internal PDFs where a visible label helps set context. This tool writes the watermark into a new downloadable copy.

A visible watermark is a label, not access control. It does not encrypt the PDF, prevent copying, or guarantee that someone with PDF editing software cannot remove or alter the mark.

Practical starting settings

For a draft proposal, enter DRAFT, choose center placement, use a font size around 56, opacity around 0.25, and a rotation near -35 degrees. Export the PDF, then check light, dark, text-heavy, and image-heavy pages before sending it.

For a corner label, start with a smaller font and higher opacity so the text remains legible without covering page content. Mixed page sizes can make one setting look different from page to page.

Preview and print limitations

This version does not render a page preview before export. Download the result and inspect it at normal zoom. If the PDF will be printed, use your PDF viewer's print preview or print a test page: low-opacity gray text can disappear on some printers, while a dark mark can cover important content.

FAQ

Can I add an image or logo watermark?

Not in this version. This V1 tool supports text watermarks only.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Turn off Watermark all pages and enter page numbers or ranges such as 1,3,5-7.

Are PDFs uploaded?

No. The PDF is read, watermarked, and exported locally in your browser.

Does this edit the original PDF?

No. The original file is unchanged. The tool creates a new downloadable PDF.

Does a watermark prevent copying or editing?

No. A watermark is a visible label, not encryption, permissions control, or digital rights management. A capable PDF editor may be able to change or remove it.

How should I check opacity before sharing or printing?

Download the output and inspect light, dark, text-heavy, and image-heavy pages at normal zoom. For printed documents, also use print preview or print a test page because low-opacity text may reproduce differently.

Will one setting look the same on every page?

Not necessarily. The same font size, opacity, rotation, and selected position are applied to each chosen page, but mixed page sizes and page content can change the visual result.
