About this WiFi QR code generator

WiFi QR codes are useful for guest networks in cafes, offices, short-term rentals, classrooms, and events. A phone camera or QR scanner can read the network details and offer a join prompt without making visitors type a long password by hand.

The QR code contains the network name, security type, password when needed, and hidden-network flag. It does not create a redirect, account, hosted link, or expiring code.

Example

For a guest network named Cafe Guest WiFi with WPA/WPA2 security and password freshcoffee24, the QR code encodes those exact join details so compatible phones can connect after scanning.

WiFi QR format

WiFi QR codes use a text payload such as WIFI:T:WPA;S:Network;P:Password;;. Special characters in the network name or password are escaped before the QR code is generated.

FAQ

Does this upload my WiFi password?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser. The WiFi name and password are not sent to a backend by this tool.

Which encryption type should I choose?

Choose WPA/WPA2 for most modern password-protected networks, WEP only for old networks that still use it, and Open network when there is no password.

Can a WiFi QR code hide the password?

No. Anyone who can decode the QR code can read the network details. Use a guest network when sharing access publicly.

Why should I test the QR code?

WiFi QR support varies by device and camera app. Testing confirms the network name, password, security type, and print size work before guests need it.
