When to remove image metadata
Use this tool before sharing screenshots, product images, profile photos, or everyday images when you want a fresh exported copy without common embedded camera or editing metadata. The output keeps the decoded pixel dimensions, but its format, file size, and image encoding can differ from the source.

Before sharing the cleaned copy
Upload the image, choose PNG or JPEG, re-encode it, and download the new file. Open that downloaded copy and check that its orientation, colors, transparency, and visible content still look right.
Rename the file if the original file name reveals a person, place, project, or date. Also inspect the pixels for faces, addresses, account names, reflections, license plates, and visible watermarks. For a high-sensitivity workflow, inspect the downloaded file with a trusted metadata viewer before sharing it.
Format and browser limitations
Use PNG for transparency or crisp graphics. Use JPEG for photos when lossy compression is acceptable; any transparent areas are filled with white. Animated or multi-frame source formats are exported as one static PNG or JPEG, and browser decoding support varies by format.
Canvas re-export removes common embedded metadata, but this page does not inventory or prove removal of every possible metadata block. Visible information, the downloaded file name, and format-specific traces remain outside what the tool can verify.
